Flame finishing is a process that masons use to create an appealing finish on tool worked granite. The Acetylene flame fractures and chips the surface structure of the stone, removing any tool marks leaving a beautiful, natural looking finish. Longer applications of flame can be used to actually chip out large sections of stone allowing one to actually "Carve" the stone.
